We haven’t outsmarted physics, but we’re definitely best friends with it.
The wavy shape reduces vortex shedding and helps guide airflow more efficiently around the rim. This allows the air to reattach more smoothly to the rim surface, minimizing turbulence and cutting down aerodynamic drag.
To develop the optimal aerodynamic profile, we ran multiple models through advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations—so you get the best performance possible.
We use premium Japanese Toray T700 and T800 carbon, combined with a finely tuned resin blend, to create the perfect material for a strong and reliable rim.
The irregular shape isn’t just for looks—it enhances stiffness by allowing multi-directional fiber reinforcement, unlike uniform profiles. The result? A stiffer, more responsive ride.
Just like with our other rims, the nipple bed is reinforced to prevent material fatigue and cracking—even under heavy use or race conditions.
For our wavy rims, this means maximum spoke tension of up to 140 kg (20 kg more than our regular rims), resulting in an even stiffer wheel build and more efficient power transfer.
Thanks to optimized material distribution, our wavy rims are 40-50 grams lighter than standard straight rims. Weight savings at the outer edge of rotating parts make a bigger impact than on static components, giving you a noticeable performance boost.
We also ensure precise finishing and remove excess resin before curing, maximizing strength while keeping weight to a minimum.
In fact, if you cut one open, it would look just as good on the inside as it does on the outside.
Thanks to the wavy shape, side wind pressure is distributed more evenly across the rim surface, improving stability and control compared to traditional rims. Even in less-than-ideal weather, your ride will feel noticeably smoother.
It’s like riding a shallower rim—without sacrificing the benefits of a deeper one.
Wider rims are stiffer, more stable, and perfectly suited for modern wide tires. The minimum tire width starts at 26 mm and goes all the way up to extra-wide gravel or XC models up to 54 mm.

Every wheel goes through rigorous lab testing for long-term stress, vibrations, and impacts. If they pass, we hand them over to our partner athletes, who aren’t afraid to push them to their limits.
After incorporating feedback from the pros, we fine-tune the wheels, and only then do we bring them to market.

In previous 30 years in a professional triathlon I was racing on wheels of the most famous cycling brands. When I discovered Equator I found out that in a comparison with other, more expensive wheels, Equator are not riding slower and are not heavier.
The rim is made from high-quality Japanese Toray T700 and T800 fibers. We handle the prepreg ourselves in our factory, so we have full control over the entire process.
The epoxy used for the rim is enriched with carbon nanofibers (NCT – Nanocarbon Tubes). This boosts strength and impact resistance by up to 30%, allowing us to use less epoxy and, as a result, create lighter wheels.
The ultra-light PowerWay CT 43 road hubs (307 g/pair), paired with Enduro sealed bearings, create a perfectly tuned system for optimal performance.
Sapim CX Ray flat spokes are the top of their class and are easily accessible. External nipples allow for wheel truing without the need to remove the tire.
